Benefits of a dirty house

So making my way to the basement in the dark to do stuff on my computer (Since Craig has fallen asleep WHILE I WAS TALKING TO HIM), I start tripping on all the random stuff that has been strewn through my house throughout the day. I was making a HUGE racket at 11:00pm. (I'm so not a ninja...sigh) Anyway, I realize that since my house has all these things on the floor, it would be really difficult for an intruder to not make a noise in my house. Look at that! By keeping things on the floor, I am making my family safer at night. I'm feeling pretty good about myself. Plus, don't they say the benefits of germs on kids health or something? (Keep tellin' yourself that, Summer. Keep tellin' yourself that.) Oh, the ways I happily delude myself...feels good inside;)

Shootin' the breeze

Today I was shootin' the breeze with my boys, playin' slap games and teaching them to fart with their mouths properly, when I decided that I am most definitely providing my boys with all the tools they will need to be 10 year olds. I guess we'll work the rest out later:)

Sometimes it's nice to settle down and be rowdy. As dumb as it sounds, I want to be the one to teach my boys how to do the stupid things in life too. They're important steps and who better to be there than their mom?

This is my 20 second blurb from the Huber 'hood.

Prophet?

So the other day Abram was asking me about something that happened to him a while back. When I told him, he said, "Yeah, that was when I used to be a prophet." He is evidently under the impression that both he and his brother, Isaac, used to be prophets because of their names.
Cute ways that little boys think...:)

Q: What do you get when you cross a Kleptomaniac and a Mormon?
A: A basement full of stolen food.

Happy Birthday.

So, I'm 29 today. For real....really. Not 30, but Craig has been going on about how I'm almost 30, never really mentioning that I'm 29. So I can see how Abram came to his comment tonight when he called Craig into his room:
"Daddy, I've been thinking about this. I've been thinking...that when I'm 30, I want to have a cherry cake for my birthday with sprinkles on top."
I love how kids think that their dads will always make them birthday cakes:)

I loved my cake. Craig is the BEST cakemaker out there! It was yummalious!

Need an update?

After 2 months, this is what I have to offer:
So, I was sitting at the dinner table tonight watching...yep watching. Isaac was sitting in his seat squishing at least a half a cup of squash through his fingers and cleaning the table with the squished squash leftovers. (evidently, this is how squash is suppose to be handled...duh mom.) And Abram was licking his water from his cup like a dog--is that called 'lapping?'--until he spilled it all over the floor and table. Which, cleaned up the squash a little. I felt like I was at the zoo during feeding times.

I'm still not sure if my children actually ate anything.

Feeling a little sheepish

So, today I was reading the internet news. There was a section titled, "Were little kids really stoned at school?" I opened it not expecting it to be about drugs, like it was, but talking about stoned...as in the biblical sense...with rocks and stuff. I felt kinda silly.

Today Isaac came over to me asked if he could ride his "awesome bike in the rain." He thinks he is soooo cool;)

Happy Birthday Isaac!

Singing Bob Builder and making life harder than it needs to be sometimes.

He's doin' 'good.' We'll have to work on 'well.':)
Happy Birthday Little Boy!

Stickers

We have stickers for chores on our chore chart. Abram worked through TWO chore charts without any prize to earn this really cool, glow-in-the-dark dinosaur shirt.

Look at his 'I'm pleased with myself look.'

Here's a good close-up for Abram to look at when he looks at the blog.

Way to go Abram boy! We're so proud of all the hard work you've done around here, and of your patience. (It took him a while to earn this!)

Isaac's Art class

So, we used clay.
Here's Isaac not so psyched about the dino I helped him with:

Here's his feelings on his "awesome" hamburger he made by himself.

Here's a close up of that hamburger, just in case you were wondering.

Day at the dentist and Daddy's school

Isaac playing with Daddy's dental tools.
We enjoyed getting a tour of the school by Dad. The boys favorite parts were all of Dad's lockers, and his air and water tools.

Snow play with friends

End of the day cleaning...Abram loves his board...and so does his friends!

Abram plays BASKETBALL!

I wish I would have been able to take more pictures and video throughout the season. Abram's team starting playing against each other this last week. Abram was passing and shooting very well(making it in almost every single time), however, he thought that if you take it out you don't get to play any longer. Sadly, we didn't realize why he quit playing until the end of the practice. He took it very literally. What a cute boy! All the mom's cheer for all the kids here, so it's really a fun experience for everyone.

For Jeffery, Joey, Josh, April and Connie

Tue, 2/24

This song reminds me of how I felt about Dad, especially right before he died. I thought I said it all before he died, but now I know that's not possible. I wish I could talk with him a thousand times more at least. I wish I could talk with him now just about nothing in particular. I guess you never stop wanting to talk with the people you love. I have been missing Dad alot lately. I think about him everyday here lately and several times a day.

I think he would have loved this movie. He never got to see it. I didn't know this movie was connected to the song, but when I found the video, I cried. For others reading this, my dad died with cancer and the scene with Morgan Freeman in the bed about to die laughing reminded me of my dad. The last time I saw him, he was bald, sickly and acting silly. I miss him and his silliness. I am so thankful that I got a chance to "say what I needed to say" before he died. This is for my brothers and sisters on my Dad's side. I hope you all get to see the 'Bucket List,' listen to the song, and cry some if you need it. I love you all.

'My Family Loves Me Because...'

So, the boys and I played a game where we talk about how important our family is to each of us and then we went around a said things we love about each person as that person wore the hat. (The hat has velcro on it...I'm a genius...One size fits all baby!)
Anyway, we played it again for Family Home Evening. (We would have a picture of Craig, but I forgot to take pictures at FHE.) We had fun and it was nice to tell and hear all the nice things about each person. We wrote them on a paper and put them on our bedroom doors.

"Let's to theses to the 'Unkles!'"

About a week ago, I hear my kids being pretty quiet. I go upstairs to discover a bag of chex mix busted open ALL over the kitchen floor. The boys were in the living room whispering. They had put on their boots(Abram's in mine and Isaac's in Bob builder's), Isaac got a hat, and they were trying to escape the house to take just a few pieces of chex mix to the 'Unkles.' I guessing that the few pieces on the plate actually came from the much bigger mess on the floor, so we did not take it to the k'unkels.' BUT...Here's a picture. I couldn't help but smile at what sweet boys I have who want to take a treat to our neighbors.:-)
