Thanksgiving Wrights

Happy Thanksgiving! We miss the Wrights. They are our friends and were our family away from family while we lived in A2.
We had celebrated Thanksgiving with the Wrights every year since before Abram was born, until this year. It was ALWAYS fun!

If anyone in A2 sees the Wrights. Please let them know that we were thinking of them today all day today.

Kiddie Tag

I have to write 5 things about Abram.
After my last post, this is WAY appropriate. I am going to do both of my boys though. We all been sick this week, and I think it's good to count my blessing. Hope you don't mind.

Abram
1. Is my sweet little boy. He is very sensitive. He loves the people around him sincerely and is very easily hurt if they don't show the same affection for him.
2. Loves dinosaurs!! He's always acting like and talking about real types of dinosaurs. He also comes up with new 'types' of dinosaurs.
3. Talks like a frat boy from the 80's. Example: Yesterday Abram said, "You be a RADasaurs Mom." I like that he thinks I'm rad!! He also calls Isaac a dude.
4. Loves preschool, but loves home even more. He's kind of a homebody, but does well and likes it when we go out. However, he likes to be home for most of the day, just hangin' out in his undershirt and underwear.:)
5. Is very strong. He knows what he wants, and does it. He thinks about what you say he should and should not do, but ultimately decides. I'm very proud of his ability to think for himself.


Isaac
1. Is so cuddly! I love it. This is one of my favorite things about him! He looks like Craig, but is alot more cuddly. PERFECT!
2. Likes trains. Currently, he loves building train tracks and can do it for about an hour.
3. Also talks like a frat boy from the 80's. Yesterday, I gave him yogurt and he said, "AWWEsome!" All drawn out even...he's got it down!
4. Is learning alot right now. He collects things from all over the house. No drawer is protected. Makes things out out of them, tears them up, tries to rebuild, reorganizes them, etc. Really he is learning new organization and building skills. He's also learning how to potty train, which in Isaac land means, watching and exploring every bodily function and part. Pee, poop, burps, farts, snot and earwax...he wants to know about it all. Isaac and I often have conversations about these topics as well as which girls "don't have a penis." Luckily most other body parts are understood...I think.
5. Is very obedient for the most part. Anytime I ask him to do something, or stop for the most part he does. I've gotten lucky over the last few days because when he makes a mess he sings this song, "Makin' a Mess! Makin' a Mess!" very loudly. When I hear this I run and ask him to stop. His new song is saving me lots of time:)
I am thankful that my little boy Isaac has so much faith in his parents.

Your children vs my children...

So one of my great friends, who I mind you is just as rambunctious, high-energy, and opinionated as me (yes you are), wrote this:

"This morning I woke up to my little munch-kins getting ready for the day as usual. They always wake up so early (and I do not) that they are typically ready for the day before I realize the sun is up.....

"It was a lot of fun to play hide-and-seek for a half hour before the kids left for school. At one point I thought, "there has to be something more productive we should be doing right before school". But since the boys were ready to go, lunch made, violin practiced, spelling words practices, backpacks and coats ready, I got to just enjoy spending fun time with my kids and be grateful that despite my in-abilities WG has an overwhelming responsible side that rubs off on the other two. It was great, and so much fun!"

Seriously, who are you? How do you get your kids to get themselves ready like that?!?!?!? So not fair! Let me tell you a little story called, "My morning in Paradise." It goes something like this:
I go to Abram, "Time to get up." Blanket over the head. I uncover and sit him up. Then I proceed to put his feet on the floor and walk behind him to the bathroom, take down his pants and tell him to pee(yes, I have to tell him!) Then, I proceed to dress the kid, telling him when to lift his legs and arms. Finally, I sit him down in front of the door where he remains motionless until time to go!
Meanwhile, Isaac has taken off his clothes, peed on the floor 3 times(No, I did not tell him to pee!), and is currently jumping on my couch squealing repeatedly "BUTT NAKED!! BUTT NAKED!!"

I think I might one day be the owner of two of those tacky bumper stickers that say,
"My kid beat up your honor student!" Sheesh!

P.S. The boys are not suppose to be on the statues in the pictures.

America's First Black President-Elect

Tonight I felt American.
Tonight I saw two bitter opponents, praise each other, sincerely.
I saw Americans of all walks of life stand to their feet and cheer for two honorable American men, whether they voted for them or not.
I saw strength in disappointment and humility in victory.
Tonight it didn't matter who I voted for, just as long as I did.

"As Lincoln said to a nation much more divide than ours. 'We are not enemies, but friends...'"

"Whatever our difference we are fellow Americans, and please believe me when I say that no association has ever meant more to me than that."

Tonight I saw Rev. Jesse Jackson weep.

Even though not one of the people I voted for, on any level, won in the election, tonight I felt proud to be an American. I felt a stirring of pride in my heart.

God bless America.

P.S. Tonight I saw a possum on my porch.=)

Idiot or Insane person (A must read!)

I've posted a ton of new stuff/pictures in one day. Look below as well, since I re-put this first in the posting order.

Okay, let me start by saying that in Iowa everyone has the opportunity to vote from home. It's great! No 3 hr waits in the voting line! Yea! Also, I get to look up these issues and people that I didn't even know were on the ballot. (Like the judges...For the Iowa Supreme Court judges vote no for all three! Just my little plug!) But I wouldn't have even known who they were, if I wasn't able to look into them from the comfort of my home computer. So, I lovin' the home ballot thing!
Now to the real business of this blog.

Currently Section 5 of Article II of the Constitution of the State of Iowa reads:

"DISQUALIFIED PERSONS. Sec. 5. An idiot or insane person or a person convicted of any infamous crime shall not be entitled to the privilege of an elector."

Yep, you read it right. In Iowa, 'idiots' and 'insane' people can't vote! I love Iowa. Really, I do! :) The reason I know the wording of the Iowa Constitution is not because I read it, (though, maybe I should, it might be a good comedy!), but because I get to vote on it. (Are you impressed?!?!?) Here's what it says:

Should the above language be changed to "a person adjudged mentally incompetent to vote." Please fill in the bubble.

A family visit! Craig's sister, JoAnn, and her family came to visit. We did some picnicin' (that's a fun new word), playing at the park, and visited the library and fossil gorge. It was fun to have them all here. We'll have to do it again sometime!

Happy Birthday Dinosaur, I mean, Craig ; - )

We went to 'Walking with the Dinosaurs' in Des Moines for Craig's birthday. It was great fun. The boys were excited all day. Here's some pictures of them being dinosaurs before the show. We got dinosaur cupcakes (topped with these awesome dino rings for the show!) and pizza for the drive down. We pick Craig up from school, sang 'Happy Birthday Daddy,' and feasted in the car. We got to the show and had 2 hours of mesmorized boys! It was really a good show. Totally worth it! Sorry the pictures are blurry, we couldn't turn on the flash during the show. But there were like 20 life sized dinosaurs in the show...Awesome.

Kitty Kitty

This is the cat who followed Abram home a few weeks ago and has just stuck with us. She loves our little boys and lives under our porch. She feasts on our over-abundance of chipmunks. We've named her "kitty kitty," thanks to Abram and Isaac.

'Whoop there is it'

Yea, I heard 'Whoop there it is' on the radio in good ole Iowa today. Sad part: I still knew all the words...yep, that's right..."cause I'm an old fool who's so cool." (You know you wanna sing it!);-)

blank starts with...

So, lately we've been talking with Abram about the first letter of words. For example, 'duck' starts with 'd', 'Sam' starts with 's', etc.. Today Abram informed me that 'k' starts with 'j.' Which makes perfect sense, seeing as 'j' comes before 'k' in the alphabet! ;-)

Family Prayer and Scripture Study...

Abram, our little boy who standing like a T-Rex says, "I have these arms, with claws and a big long tail. What am I?" (Remember that all this was acted out as well!;-))
A few seconds later at family prayer tonight we were informed that "Dinosaurs don't kneel!" Then he moved his dinosaur tail and fell on large dinosaur rump and said, "They sit!"
So cute!

Also, Isaac and Abram were sitting next to Craig during scripture reading when Isaac told Craig, "Just talk to me." Evidently Isaac doesn't want to share the gospel with Abram.
Too funny!

Back from GA

So, I just returned from my trip to GA sans Craig. I have to honestly say it was very trying. I'm glad to be home, in my bed, in my kids beds, and with my husband.
The top ten things I really enjoyed...
1) I really enjoyed seeing my family, all of them...REALLY.
2) I really enjoyed seeing Josh...and all my brothers actually. I rarely talk with any of them, so it was great to see them all.
3) I was thankful to see my dad's grave. I needed it.
4) I was thankful that my mom traveled with me during the 16 hour drive to and fro.
5) I was glad to see what great guys my brother-in-laws are.
6) I was glad my kids got to play with their cousins and Journey. They had fun together.
7) I will never forget my sisters and their kids playing on the playground near my dad's grave. It was a great view of his posterity. I was thankful to have the opportunity to see it. My sisters are really good moms and spend time play with and loving their children. I'm proud of them.
8) Swimming at the hotel was pretty fun! (Except April's suit on me...not so good for them!;-)
9) Singing songs with my mom in the car. It took me back to being a kid. My mom rhymes really well. (Mom, Abram now sings the marine song on the toilet every time he goes poop! Also, Isaac says, "NO, Nana sings it." whenever I sing one of the songs you sang to them.)
10) Playing with my family. The jeep, water fun, park, and Super Mario Brothers are all things I remember fondly from my childhood.
There it is!
Things I would change possibly:
I really wished we lived closer to our families so that it wasn't such a huge ordeal to go and see them. Plus, I never want to be without my husband that long again. I really missed him.

P.S. My 11th favorite thing was my mom as Wonder Woman with hair. Maybe my mom will post it on her blog, I can't seem to find the pictures on my computer.
